Every 2 years, the Shanghai Committee of Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa organise an International Conference to celebrate this therapeutic exercise system.
As part of the Conference, teams from around the world compete for awards of excellence. In 2006, a team from the UK competed for the first time and achieved silver awards in both Qian and Hou Shi Ba Fa. In addition, Kevin McQuaid, the Team Captain, was allowed to demonstrate Xu Shi Ba Fa alongside a Chinese team.
In 2010, Shire Hill Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa Association is returning to Shanghai with
a new competition team -
As part of the trip, there will be opportunities to meet and train with Dr. Zhuang Yuan Ming and his son, Master Coach Zhuang Jian Shen. In addition, individuals wishing to teach in the UK can attend a coaches training course run by Master Coach Zhuang Jian Shen.
As well as having opportunities to explore the astonishing city of Shanghai, there will also be chances to train with students of Shanghai’s Yong Nian Taijiquan Community in Fuxing Park and, possibly with Fu Qing Quan himself.
If all this isn’t enough, the trip also coincides with the opening of the World Wushu Competition and the World Expo.
